that kind of queer

i’m queer
queer as in fuck you
…except i’d never raise a middle finger at anyone
or let fuck you run past my teeth
escaping my mouth
it’s too impolite

i’m queer
queer as in a resister of norming gender roles
…except i’m quite comfortable being a doter, a packer of lunches with love letters napkins
a sender of have-a-good-day
thinking-of-you
dress warm today!
oh and don’t forget to book your train ticket
and call your mom
texts
i’m that goodness-and-oh-my! queer
the one that likes to kiss you out of bad days
while looking cute
blushing
all shy and shit

i’m queer
queer as in fight the system
throw those fists up
forget those hrc assimilationist queers
…except i look for long term and short term solutions that sometimes can only come from compromise.
making quarterly trips to washington for policies that with one stroke of a pen, could change our lives,
i’m the queer that teaches young people how to work around the system and survive in the system
knowing the only solution for a better day is to dream bigger, resist
but that to make it to that better day, we need to still be alive

so knowing all this
would you still accept me as a queer?
or hearing this, would you assume i want buy in to a heteronormative lifestyle?
blend into straightness?

would you assume that if i am queer, i’m a lesbian
a dyke
a believer in binary gender and women-only spaces?

i’m not.
please wipe your feet and leave your assumptions at the door.
like any good queer
i want to set your confining bloodsucking institutions on fire
dance naked— okay partially clothed— around them
cheering as barricades of liberation
turn into smoke
disappearing into the sky

You’re queer as in amazing, cripchick, and I adore you and your voice.
    This made my day.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
